So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not change their situation because they were conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than having an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

Do what makes you come alive. I can’t say it enough, because I don’t do it enough, and those around me don’t either.
A friend said to me recently, “Remember your dreams”.
If, like me, you’ve found yourself sat at a desk day in, day out, watching the seasons change outside the window (or maybe you’re not even lucky enough to have a window!), and you’re wondering when your life is going to begin… take a breath. Pause. Close your eyes just for a moment and remember…
Remember a time in your life when you weren’t bound by time. Maybe it was that summer break just after finishing your last exam or whatever. Remember that feeling. It felt like… time was slow, like the clock hands were lazy as the days dragged leisurely by. You didn’t have to rush anywhere, there weren’t looming deadlines, there wasn’t some meeting you had to run from dinner to. You could just be, move with the wind, act by the whims of your heart.
Embrace that feeling once again. Take some time for you today. Even if it can only be on a loo break at work! Just find those moments, in your everyday. Maybe you can’t live jobless, or even take a holiday right now. But what you can do, is take the small moments, to recalibrate and realign with your inner self.
Your heart wants to be heard, and cries out to be fulfilled. Listen to the needs of your heart. Take time to breathe.
Even if you’re living the 9 to 5, your time is still yours. Don’t agree to the lie that you don’t have any time. Take that advice from me! I started believing that old chestnut, and all it did was make me stressed and anxious. It is no way to live.
To really live, you gotta take control of your time and make it yours, starting by a few seconds shutting your eyes and remembering to breathe, remembering what you want from life, and remembering the feeling of freedom.
